Not you

But I don’t need you

I need your arms around me

Because it would cost so much

to find a new set of hands

From a body I don’t know

From a mind I haven’t felt

It’s not you that I need

It’s the smell of sand under your skin

The touch of the visible veins

on the back of your hands

The soft skin

where your curls used to be

It’s not you that I need

It’s someone who used to stay with me

After the monsters left

to come back at the break of daylight
